The George Gund Foundation awarded
a leadership grant in the amount of $1.6 million in support of
The Idea Center at Playhouse Square this past summer. This generous
gift to the Idea Center is compatible with the foundation's interests
in supporting the role arts play in making Northeast Ohio a more
desirable place to live and celebrating uniquely urban assets
as a strategy for encouraging economic growth.
"The George Gund Foundation is pleased to support
this unique collaboration." said David Abbott, The George Gund
Foundation executive director. "Our hope is the Idea Center will
further the redevelopment of the theater district, encouraging
others to move into the area. The street-level studios and other
programs originating within Idea Center will create new vitality
on Euclid Avenue."
