WVIZ/PBS & 90.3 WCPN ideastream and Playhouse Square Foundation Announce Dominion Master Moments

Arts and cultural education series provides multi-media access to contemporary creative masters

WVIZ/PBS and 90.3 WCPN ideastream and Playhouse Square Foundation are pleased to announce Dominion Master Moments, a series of one-hour conversations with masters in the performing arts – producers, directors, performers, composers, choreographers and more.

The Dominion Master Moments series is a celebration of the best the arts have to offer, capturing and communicating the creative process and the insight and experience of “master” artists. The goal of the series is to perpetuate the brilliance of master artists by sharing their knowledge and preserving it for generations to come. Funding for the program was provided by the Dominion Foundation through a generous gift to the Campaign for Idea Center.

"The Dominion Master Moments series encapsulates the essence of the collaboration between ideastream and Playhouse Square. It is about giving more people the opportunity to experience the best of the performing arts and that is made possible through the use of appropriate technology,” explained Gina Vernaci, vice president of theatricals for Playhouse Square Foundation. “The potential for this program will only be limited by the imaginations of these two dynamic organizations. That is very exciting and we thank Dominion for making it possible."

“Through our new Idea Center facilities, and the technology that supports it, we are now able to provide more access points for the appreciation of arts and culture, providing greater reach then ever for our programs and services,” John Ramicone, distance learning director for WVIZ/PBS educational services said. “Whether students and educators are able to be with us in person, or they connect with us online or through radio, television or video conference distance learning technology, the potential distribution for the Dominion Master Moments program and use of the content is considerable, indeed.”

Each program in the series will be recorded in front of a live studio audience in the Idea Center’s Westfield Insurance Studio Theatre, distributed live to schools in Northeast Ohio and beyond via video conference distance learning technology.

Programs will also be available online through streaming video. Several branches of the Cuyahoga County Public Library will connect to the program via distance learning technology.

In addition, Dominion Master Moments will provide content for ideastream radio and television broadcasts including Applause, the weekly arts, culture and entertainment program on WVIZ/PBS and Around Noon, the daily hour-long radio show focusing on arts and culture in Northeast Ohio.

Announcements about subsequent programs in the Dominion Master Moments series will be made as arrangements are confirmed. Schools interested in participating in upcoming programs may contact John Ramicone of ideastream at 216.916.6360 or by email at john.ramicone@ideastream.org.
